In their words

“A despicable betrayal.”

“[Stevens] is not a current member of the Michigan Democratic Party, nor will she be in the future.”

She never meant it

When Stevens lost the primary, she stood up and said she wanted a Democrat to win this seat. It sounded gracious. It was a lie.

That promise was about saving face, not about Michigan. The moment the cameras moved on, she was looking out for one person: Haley Stevens. Two days before the election, with the Senate on the line, she showed us who she really is.

Michigan trusted her

Michiganders knocked on doors for Haley Stevens. They made phone calls in the cold, gave money they didn't have to spare, and put her name on their lawns. They sent her to Washington because they believed she would fight for them.

They were repaid with deceit.

A grifter takes your trust, spends it on herself, and switches sides when it pays. Republicans hold the Senate 53–47, Michigan's seat is one of the closest races in the country, and Stevens chose to help the other side with 48 hours to go.

That isn't a change of heart. It's a betrayal of every Michigander who ever stood up for her.
